The great statesman isn’t off to a very good start proving that he wants to put behind us the “pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics.” (Obama’s words. See the transcript of his victory speech Tuesday night.) He’s damn good at reading the nice speeches written for him on a teleprompter, too bad he can’t remember what he reads and practice what he preaches.

I got to wondering today - does Obama have anyone in his orbit he doesn’t have to make excuses for, deny affiliation with, or demand is off limits? Thy hypocrisy is stifling. I’ve seen liberals post about what great strategy Obama employed in opting out. Talk about a short memory.

Write this stuff down folks. Put it in a file. Save it to your hard drive. Whatever. It’ll be fun pulling it out in four years after Obama and friends have put this country in the dirt, when America will be desperate to chuck money at and vote for anyone or anything that doesn’t have a “D” by their name.

Why this treatment? Because Joe’s message is powerful and they need to defang it. Joe is the face of what’s wrong with Obama’s economic policy proposals.

The fact this private citizen expressed himself while the media happened to be recording is enough mandate to go digging through this guy’s private life and present it to the world.

McCain spoke to issues common sense and his conservative base has wanted him to bring up for weeks, and he won the debate by the standard that he made challenges Obama could not answer.

Don’t expect to see a lot of fireworks at the debate tonight.

If bringing up Wright is such a grave threat to civil society, how’d civil society survive the three-week orgy of media coverage of him back in March?

Same thing when you apply for a any job. Even if you are well qualified for a job, they always ask for references before they hire you.

For these politicians, if the public has questions about their character they should come clear with no lies and explain themselves before they lay out their plan.

Obama is preemtively countering all scrutiny of his past elbow rubbing with angry extremists, unrepentent terrorist bombers, and other radicals by launching a new ad and talking point campaign that goes something like: “we have to talk about the economy, and only the economy, because talking about anything else is just trying to change the subject and a distraction.”

And the economic crisis does not make the question of Obama’s judgement and character and integrity any less important, in fact, it makes it more important. People need to know what kind of power hungry scammer they’re turning the keys over to….
